Keeping in view the vast scope and need for the persons with statistical expertise in the field of medical research, banking, finance and related sectors, the Central University of Haryana has launched the Department of Statistics in the year 2013 under the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. The Department of Statistics offers two year full M.Sc (Statistics) programme for advance level training in the theory, methods and applications of Statistics along with specialized training with selected areas of Statistics and allied fields. Depending on the area of specialization, students would be able to pursue an academic/ research career in Statistics and allied fields. They would be able to work competently as Statisticians and specialists in research institutions and scientific laboratories, government departments or industries.
The Department introduced Master of Science in Statistics (M.Sc Statistics) programmes with Intake of 10 students. Besides, the Department proposes to design and introduce certain new programmes, the major trust areas of the Department includes Regression analysis, Econometrics, Multivariate Analysis, Statistical Inference and Biostatistics.
The Department of Statistics in the Central University of Haryana aims to achieve the following objectives:
- To cultivate a Statistical attitudes among the aspired learners.
- To motivate for research in Statistical Sciences.
- To enable the students to be fairly well prepared for taking up the NET examination and Indian Statistical Services (ISS).
- To motivate the students for applied research using various statistical methods.
