Journalism and Mass Communication

Department of Journalism and Mass Communication have been started at Central University of Haryana from academic year 2014-15 as a constituent department of School of Journalism, Mass Communication and Media. By keeping in view of the requirement of skilled media professionals for developing the society and nation, this department has come into existence. Course curriculum has been designed in such a way that a student and scholar will get exposure of all mediums of media i.e. Print, Television, Radio, New Media, advertising and Public Relations. Department, as of now is offering MJMC programme with an intake capacity of 20 seats.

Vision

To educate scholars of communication and journalism, and functions as a significant guiding force in Journalism & Mass Communication and inculcates in students the habit of thinking of themselves as leaders for change and improvement in the profession as well as in society.

Mission

To create skilled manpower for media industry as it is the fastest growing industry by covering all mediums of media i.e. Print, Radio, Television, Cinema and New Media.

The department strives to adapt for changes in the profession, to respond to new developments in the way media is functioning and to prepare students to work in different environments.

Objectives

  • To develop community through various developmental activities.
  • To fill gap between academics and media industry.
  • To develop our students intellectually, academically and socially.
  • To inculcate a critical, analytical and enthusiastic bent of mind so that students can improvise upon on their own caliber and talent in their professional lives.
  • To develop the expertise of students in one professional specialty, and provide them the oppor-tunity to converge multiple skills sets in journalism and mass communication
